Summer Hours & New Entry Fees for Santorini’s Museums & Archaeological Sites

If you’re planning to visit Santorini in 2025, here’s an important update regarding the opening hours and entrance fees for the island’s museums and archaeological sites. From April 1st to October 31st, the summer schedule is in effect, ensuring visitors can make the most of their exploration. Additionally, a revised ticket pricing policy has been introduced.

Updated Opening Hours & Entry Fees:

  • Akrotiri Archaeological Site: Open daily 08:00-20:00, except Mondays & Thursdays (08:30-15:30). Entry: €20. Currently closed for structural inspections. 📞 2286081939

  • Archaeological Museum of Thera: Closed for renovations until June 12. Reopens June 13 with hours: Tue-Fri & Sun 08:30-15:30, Sat 09:00-21:00. Entry: €10. 📞 2286022217
  • Agia Triada Collection (Pyrgos): Open daily except Tuesdays. Mon, Wed, Fri-Sun 09:30-15:30, Thu 11:00-15:30. Entry: €5. 📞 2286034487

Important Notes:

  • Last admission is 20 minutes before closing.
  • All sites will remain closed on Easter Sunday (April 20) and May 1st (Labor Day).
  • On Good Friday, sites will be open from 12:00-17:00.
  • On Holy Saturday, sites will operate from 08:30-15:30.
  • On other public holidays, including Easter Monday, the Assumption (August 15), and Ohi Day (October 28), the usual schedule applies.

New Ticketing Policy

A major change in the new pricing structure is the abolition of the reduced winter fee. Entrance fees remain consistent year-round. However, discounts still apply to specific groups:

  • Visitors aged 65+ from EU countries receive 50% off from October 1st to May 31st.
  • EU citizens under 25 years old enjoy free entry.
  • Non-EU citizens under 18 years old now also qualify for free admission.
  • Free access remains available to individuals with disabilities and other eligible groups (e.g., unemployed persons, large families).

Mark your calendars! Visitors can explore Santorini’s archaeological treasures for free on the following dates:

  • March 6 – Melina Mercouri Remembrance Day
  • April 18 – International Day for Monuments and Sites
  • May 18 – International Museum Day
  • Last weekend of September – European Heritage Days
  • October 28 – National Holiday
  • New addition: Every third Sunday from November to March (along with the existing first Sunday of each month)

Seasonal Adjustments for Extended Hours Sites

For sites with extended summer hours (08:00-20:00), the closing time will gradually shorten as daylight hours decrease:

  • September 1-15: Closes at 19:30
  • September 16-30: Closes at 19:00
  • October 1-15: Closes at 18:30
  • October 16-31: Closes at 18:00
