Wine maker’s notes
Vinification
Traditional red wine vinification. Following a long maceration on the skins, the young wine is transferred to an oak cask, where the malolactic fermentation takes place. It matures in a cask for one year and is then bottled and further aged.
Description
Dark red in color, with preserved berries and flowers on the nose composing its intense and complex bouquet. Smooth beginning on the palate with well-structured and balanced tannins, round and rich, long aromatic persistence with red berry fruit and citrus together with herbs and spicy characters. Attractive wine has substance and elegance endorsing its varietal character.

About Ktima Voyatzi
A modern 3-hectare vineyard was created by the lake, located in an old vine of the Voyatzis family. Designed to produce high-quality wines of a distinctive character, it was planted with local and other varieties during 1991-1994.
The Voyatzis family enjoys a long heritage as wine merchants, documented since the early 20th century when large quantities of wine from the Velvento area were transported for sale at the then developing town of Katerini, where the family settled, running a wine-cellar and ouzo-house until 1922.
Members of the third family generation, Yannis, who has studied oenology at the University of Bordeaux, France and has substantial experience in the Greek wine production, along with his brother, Nico, who is an engineer, and their father, Harissis, decided to return to Velvento and establish a new, privately owned vineyard. Eirini Zande, chemist-oenologist, is in charge of the on-site management of the winery, while Nicos and Dimitris are attending the vineyard with the utmost care and love.
