This collectible album, came to creation because of an exhibition with the same title hosted in the Benaki Museum – Pireos 138 in Athens in the fall of 2019. In the exhibition only a selection of 84 paintings out of the total number of 185 in this collection were showcased. The reader can browse through the entire collection of works, read the story of its creation, and witness the personal stories of both the collector Dimitris Tsitouras and many famous artists. Each painting of the collection, is accompanied with a short biographical note and portrait of the artist, and invites the reader to let the imagination roam free and explore the old port and the narrow lanes of Fira, as well as Oia, Akrotiri and Ammoudi, landscapes the light and colors of which have enchanted visitors and artists alike for decades. Famous Greek artists such as Dimos Braessas, Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas, Yannis Moralis, Spyros Vassiliou, and younger ones such as Opy Zouni, Kostas Tsoclis, and Pavlos Samios are only some of the artists who each one from their own viewpoint, have managed to portray the volcanic island of Santorini, in so many different but harmonious ways.
